Disney has announced a Home Alone remake for its new streaming service, Disney+.
The studio’s chief executive Bob Igler revealed there will also be “reimaginations” of classic films including Night At the Museum, Cheaper By the Dozen and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Disney now owns these films after it bought 20th Century Fox back in 2017.
The Disney+ streaming service will be launched in the US in November and is expected to arrive in the UK next year.
The bundle will also include access to Hulu and ESPN for $12.99 a month, which is cheaper than competitive streaming services including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
The streaming service is likely to be available through “Amazon, Apple, and other distributors”, according to Iger.
“So far this year we’ve released five of the top six movies”, Iger told a conference call with investors.
In addition to Avatar, Planet of the Apes, X-Men and Deadpool, “we’re also focused on leveraging Fox’s vast library of great titles to further enrich the content mix on our platforms”, he said.
Along with these remakes, Disney+ will also include content from both the Star Wars and Marvel franchises, with more than 7,500 episodes of TV and 400 movies.
No further details about the Home Alone adaptation have been released, but Disney says it hopes the remake will have the “same standards and the same creative discipline” as the original.
