Manchester-born rapper and producer JOSHUi returns with a new song called “Wide Awake”, taken from his energetic new EP Shine Bright, that just came out.
Although grime at its core, Shine Bright is a mix of sounds and inspirations that puts JOSHUi in his own lane. The seven-track hip-hop/grime record demonstrates his aim as an artist, which is for his music to have a message, injecting some much needed positivity as he raps.
Now based in London, JOSHUi is a Manchester-born artist that first emerged in 2017 with his self-produced EP Home(i), which laid the foundations for his own unique path.
It wasn’t long before he planted himself firmly in the grime scene with his blistering freestyle on the Sir Spyro & BBC 1Xtra’s ‘Sounds Of The Verse’ where he delivered an energetic and self-expounding performance to Stormzy’s “Sounds Of The Skeng” instrumental.
JOSHUi’s unwavering determination and unique approach has led to him being made BBC Introducing ‘Artist Of The Week’, placement on Spotify’s flagship playlist ‘Grime Shutdown’, as well as support from the likes of SBTV and Link Up TV.
He is definitely one of the emerging grime artists on the UK scene to keep an eye on.
