Kayne West may have been spotted in London in October, with questions raised as to why he was in the capital. Bottega Veneta gracefully put that anxiety to ease with a recent video which unveiled footage behind their secret fashion show held in the Sadler’s Wells theatre in London.
This year saw a spin on the words with the collection being called ‘Salon 01’ to highlight the Spring/Summer 2021 collection.
Some of the lucky hand picked guests besides the American rapper were model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and actress Salma Hayek-Pinault (Grown Ups/From Dusk Till Dawn). Due to the current climate, we see guests sat in socially distanced chairs.
The collection is vastly different to what was featured in Milan, giving a great significance to knitted tailoring and a much softer approach to what we have seen in past collections. The designs for this season could be seen as more sustainable as the versatile pieces can be worn in multiple seasons. It is visually evidential that past eras such as the retro style of the 60’s has inspired this new collection to life.
Besides the launch of ‘Salon 01’ we are given the release of three books, the first of these books giving us an overview of the inspiration behind the unique collection.
Looking into the second book enables us to explore the creative process of clothing, and the final book features a look book by fashion photographer and filmmaker Tyrone Lebon. Tyrone’s work includes clients Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton and Supreme among others.
Tyrone directed the short film ‘Salon 01 London’ which can be viewed on Bottega Veneta’s website here.
