Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Coldplay, Lars Ulrich, and Hugh Jackman are among the stars that have joined up to support Global Citizen’s Recovery Plan For the World.
They join artists and celebrities such as SuperM, Femi Kuti, H.E.R., Idris & Sabrina Elba, Jonas Brothers, Lang Lang, Rachel Brosnahan, Usher, Yemi Alade and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas in an effort to end covid-19.
Committed to continuing its response to the pandemic following last year’s impact achieved through Global Citizen’s One World: Together at Home and Global Goal: Unite for Our Future campaigns, the organisation has partnered with long-time world leaders in music and entertainment to advocate commitments from governments, philanthropists, and the private sector to help end the pandemic, end the hunger crisis, resume learning everywhere, protect the planet and advance equity for all.
Among this campaign’s plan, there are two different fundraising events, with the first one based on the equitable distribution of Covid-19 vaccines and overcoming vaccine hesitancy. The event will be broadcast in May.
The second event is Global Citizen Live, which will feature performances from around the world, including Lagos, New York, Paris, Seoul, and Sydney. The multi-hour event will be held on September 25, and the lineups for both events will be announced soon.
Global Citizen Ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas added about the initiatives, “By using our voices to call on world leaders, corporations and philanthropists to step up and take urgent action, and by supporting the Recovery Plan for the World, we can impact millions of lives for the better now, not later.
Global Citizen’s plan provides a clear path forward to ensure that we get children back in classrooms, food back on the table for families, and get vaccines, tests and treatments to everyone, everywhere”.
