Brooklyn-based producer Jake Muskat has collaborated with fellow artist and longtime friend Blue Canopy (Alex Schiff) under his Sea Glass moniker for his new single titled “New Romans”.
Muskat’s Sea Glass project is known for blending classic songwriting and modern indie production to compose and create unique pop songs. The project features guest vocalists to create a cohesive sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. Inspired to release music after the birth of his first child, Sea Glass’s music taps into universal emotions around growing up and dreaming.
His new single “New Romans” was written during the lockdown, while Muskat was living in a covid rental in Brooklyn. He describes the song as having “a serious, almost systematic tone that became the soundtrack to living in a dystopian movie“.
The song features the echoing and ethereal vocals of Blue Canopy, which adds a pensive but reassuring tone to the animated, jangly guitar melodies and playful synths that Sea Glass provides. Their collaboration makes for an intriguing outcome driven by exciting sounds and textures.
Sea Glass draws influences from the likes of The Beatles, Toro Y Moi and The Strokes to create indie dream pop music that he hopes will emit an. overall thought-provoking emotion and captivating atmosphere. Sea Glass wants to suck you into his universe and hold you hostage from start to finish, so let us know in the comments section below, if he succeeds or not with “New Romans”.
