Lancaster Indie Musician Jessica Smucker Unveils New Single ‘Stone To Throw’

Introducing Jessica Smucker with her brand new single titled”Stone To Throw”, as she inches towards her upcoming fourth studio album.

In the beginning, Jessica Smucker was a poet and she has been writing songs for a long time. Jessica’s songwriting is grounded in her everyday experiences – employing self-reflection, cadence, rhythm, and even the way her lines break. While she is deeply engaged in solving big world problems, her songs are deeply personal.

Since turning to music seriously, Jessica has won several national songwriting contests, including ‘Connecticut Folk Festival Song Competition’ in 2013 and ‘SolarFest Singer/Songwriter Showcase Competition in 2010.

It’s also no surprise that her extensive touring history includes opening for such prominent acts as Cheryl Wheeler and Bill Staines, performing with Meghan Trainor, the Stray Birds, Heather Maloney, and sharing festival stages with Patty Larkin, Catie Curtis, Dar Williams, David Wilcox, Antje Duvekot, Susan Werner, and others.

In 2014, she reached #1 on The Roots Music Report’s Weekly ‘Top 50 Easy Listening Album Chart’ in September 2014 and #11 on The Roots Music Report’s ‘Weekly Top 50 Penny Album Chart’ with her second studio album, Tumbling After. In 2020, Jessica released her third full-length collection Lucid Stories, Tentative Lies.

Speaking about her new single “Stone To Throw”, Jessica Smucker says, “This is a song about loneliness – the kind of loneliness that can exist inside a relationship when two people come up against the limits of how well they can know or understand each other. It’s easy to cast blame when there’s a failure to connect, but no relationship is ever going to meet every need, and it’s up to us as individuals to determine what is enough“.
