New Balance Celebrates 2022 Grey Day With New Signature Collection

Since its announcement back to 2018, the unforgettable grey shade signature of New Balance popularized by the emblematic shoes is celebrated every year via the aptly called Grey Day.

Inscribed in sneakerheadss calendars, Grey Day was celebrated this year on Saturday, May 21, with New Balance honoring three local community leaders across Liverpool, Manchester, and London, who are fighting for the purpose of people link to sports and craftsmanship.

For the 2022 edition of Grey Day, New Balance have highlighted ambassador and rising football star Harvey Elliott and his brother, musician siblings Roosevelt ([ K S R ] and his sister Roselle Sigsbert), as well as DJs and workout leaders, Zoe and Crissi Vassilakis (Madam X).

These community leaders chosen to lead this year’s Grey Day campaign have shown a profusion of passion, perspective, and discipline, while also extolling the importance of family values, which made them a perfect fit to represent New Balance.

According to the Senior Marketing Manager at New Balance, Samantha Matthews: “Grey Day is a symbolic date for New Balance and has become a cultural moment which is celebrated by sneakerheads annually. This Grey Day, alongside launching four silhouettes in various grey hues, we are proud to spotlight three community leaders across the UK, who embody our fearlessly independent ethos and who are driven by their passions”.

As New Balance say, “Grey runs in the New Balance family”, and these leaders also demonstrate that grey runs in their families as well, through their similarities and support for each other – Harvey and Harrison with their love for football, style and culture, Madam X and her sister Zoe with their dedication to music and fitness, and [ K S R ] and his sister Roselle with their strong community values and Mancunian pride.

Presenting the new 2022 Grey Day collection, New Balance has the pleasure to introduce three new models – the XC-72, 57/40 and 327 – with all their silhouettes meeting the New Balance green leaf standards.

According to New Balance, each Grey Day release features an upper made of 50% or more recycled content, leather that supports more responsible manufacturing through the Leather Working Group, and/or preferred manmade cellulose, and at least one midsole/outsole material contains a minimum of 3% bio-based or 5% recycled content.

The 327 and XC-72 are gladly wearing various grey hues as New Balance’s heritage, while the 57/40 appears as an update of the iconic 574.
