Joseph Marcus has just released his new single “Summerboy”. This track is the third single from his upcoming EP Crush, which is a follow-up to the successful 2021 project In This Room Alone.
The latter consisted of tracks that were featured on notable Spotify playlists, such as New Music Friday UK, Fresh Finds: Pop, and New Pop UK. It also received extensive radio support from BBC Music Introducing and Amazing Radio USA.
“Summerboy” was inspired by a luscious bossa nova-esque chord progression sent to Joseph by his friend and producer Benwa. Marcus describes the track as an anthem for surrendering to infatuation, focusing on enjoying the moment while it lasts.
The artist associates this song with the confidence and exuberance he feels during the summer, embodying a certain kind of allure in its melody and lyrics.
In the creation process, the track was further refined by Flourish, another producer who managed to elevate the song and align it perfectly with the overall theme of the upcoming EP.
