Alt-pop artist Kisos returns with the haunting yet hopeful track “Six Feet Under.” The song, embellished with ethereal flutes and gospel-inspired backing vocals seamlessly woven into synth layers, serves as a testament to resilience in the face of the trauma induced by the pandemic.
The emotive lyrics convey a vow from the vocalist: “In order to get back from six feet under,” promising a shift away from self-harm and towards healing.
The evocative imagery within the song draws inspiration from a memorable cinematic scene. “‘Six Feet Under’ was influenced by Uma Thurman’s riveting escape from a coffin in Kill Bill.
The heart-pounding realization of impending doom transformed into a primal, unyielding drive to survive,” Kisos shared. He continued, “While penning this with my collaborators Pinky and Clementine, the lyrics came to life. From here on out, my focus is solely on the love that exists in this world.”
Released on August 4, 2023, “Six Feet Under” stands out as the closing track on Kisos’s meticulously crafted EP Autophagia. Demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his artistry, Kisos not only produced but also mixed and mastered each song on the album.
His dedication is further illustrated by a bold life choice: leaving a stifling job at a software startup to fully immerse himself in New York City’s vibrant music scene.
This leap of faith was rewarded. Esteemed platforms such as Billboard, PAPER Magazine, and Genius have since spotlighted the talented vocalist.
Additionally, Kisos launched Queerantine, an initiative that began as a virtual platform supporting LGBTQ+ artists during the pandemic and later evolved into an expansive 8-city east coast tour.
