Argel Moonte De Ramos, also known as Argel MDR, is a Filipino-Canadian artist that is known as a songwriter and singer.At the age of 15, Argel moved to Canada with his family, leaving the Philippines in hope of better opportunities.
He went on and gained recognition as a Top 10 Finalist in CBC’s ‘Toyota Searchlight 2021’ and was honoured as the Music Category winner at the 2022 Surrery Art and Business Awards. Furthermore his latest single “Sail Away”, was featured on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds Philippines’ playlist.
He draws inspiration from artists like Sam Smith, One Republic and Original Pinoy Music (OPM). In 2021, Argel earned a nomination for Pop Artist of the Year ad received the Excellence Award for a BIPOC artist at Fraser Valley Music, which was hosted by CIVL radio.
His new single “Empty Promises” is a powerful pop anthem designed for anyone who has broken free from a toxic relationship, as it also delivers a soulful gospel-like performance.The song is driven by dynamic guitar riffs, and encourages listeners to take back control of their life and rediscover twin self- worth.
