South London Artist Yiigaa Unveils New Single ‘Follow Lights’

Yiigaa has released new single,“Follow Lights”, a captivating indie R&B track that takes listeners on a journey through the in-between moments of nightlife, from the party to the afterparty, and finally to the quiet ride home on the night bus.

The track is produced by Narx, it blends driving percussive beats with Yiigaa’s reflective and soulful vocals, capturing the highs and lows of both a night out and city life itself. “This song is about the relationship people have with cities,” Yiigaa shares.

“It is deep and complex: with the land of opportunity and success also comes hardship, loneliness, overstimulation, and huge amounts of pressure. I wanted to make a song that encapsulates the beauty of both sides.”

The production mirrors this duality, with the track’s groovy, chilled percussion evoking a sense of both relaxation and tension, perfectly complementing Yiigaa’s smooth, introspective vocal delivery.

Yiigaa’s musical influences are a rich blend of her Ivorian heritage, South London upbringing, and love of dance and soul music. She started writing her own lyrics at the age of seven, while also taking in a wide variety of musical genres that would eventually influence her distinctive alt-pop sound.

This unique blend draws from soul, amapiano, afrobeats, garage, and R&B, and is evident in Follow Lights.

The release of Follow Lights follows a string of successful singles in 2024, including Figure Of Doubt, Lose Control, and Rewind, the latter of which earned Yiigaa major radio plays on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, BBC London, Rinse, Reprezent, Kiss Fresh, NTS, and more.

Her music has garnered support from major platforms such as Radio 1, 1Xtra, DJ Mag, GRM Daily, and Trench Magazine. Recently, she played her biggest sold-out show to date at The Amazing Grace, strengthening her place in the music industry.
