Multi instrumentalist and singer Martin Luke Brown unveils his new single “animal,” a heartfelt and introspective track that captures the longing for a simple life amidst the complexities of modern existence.
Reflecting on the song, Martin says that “About once a week I get a deep urge to retire from capitalism and run off into the woods to become Tarzan in a cabin somewhere eating berries. This is about that urge for a simple life away from the abstract chaos of the modern world.”
The song “Animal” follows previously released singles “this is me now” and “hello !,” both of which garnered critical acclaim and support from BBC Radio 1. These tracks are set to feature on Martin’s highly anticipated upcoming album, man oh man!, which is scheduled for release on 21st February via AMK, Kartel Music Group’s alternative music imprint.
This new album represents a significant milestone in Martin’s career, marking a fresh chapter following a whirlwind year as part of the surreal indie supergroup FIZZ. With man oh man!, Martin dives deep into a myriad of themes including self-awareness, personal growth, cherished friendships, whirlwind romances, and the often gut-wrenching experience of heartbreak.
Martin’s unique sound is characterized by a blend of vintage instrumentation and modern sentimentality, resulting in a warm and inviting listening experience. Each track on the album was crafted in a raw and honest fashion, often recorded in a single day, a process that Martin describes as creating a “time capsule” of his life experiences.
In a busy period for Martin, he has just concluded a successful US tour supporting Emily King and is currently wrapping up a European tour with Sam Tompkins. Further live shows and tour dates are expected to be announced soon, allowing fans to experience Martin’s captivating performances firsthand.
