Singer-songwriter and actor Ben Barnes is back with his latest single, “Nevermind,” a personal and eerie examination of anxiety and internal conflict. The track starts with soft acoustic guitar chords paired with Ben’s soulful vocals, that set a contemplative tone.
The song’s chorus is followed by a subtle introduction of percussion. The transition smoothly transitions into the second verse, when strings come briefly but powerfully, providing another aspect to the composition and quietly changing the atmosphere.
One of the standout moments in the piece is the section at 2:11, when the strings re-enter, bringing a new sense of beauty and depth to the song. Their presence creates a contrasting shift, adding a rich texture to the song’s atmosphere.

Ben shares his deepest feelings in “Nevermind,” sharing the unsettling experience of anxiety in a way that is both personal and universal. He explains the song’s meaning:
“Nevermind is a song about anxiety and the various ways to try to soothe that shaking feeling in your stomach that can’t be ignored. It’s about the stories we tell ourselves, the beginnings we re-write, the endings we rose-tint and the fantasies we project before coming back to the truth, back to the ground you’re lying on.”

Ben’s journey into music began at the age of 19, but it was only in 2021 that he made his long-awaited debut, releasing the Songs for You EP. Since then, he has played at renowned locations including NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and LA’s The Troubadour, gaining a following thanks to intimate sounds.
Kartel Music Group will release Ben Barnes’ debut album, Where The Light Gets In, on January 10, 2025, and “Nevermind” is included on the record. “Nevermind” reveals a more vulnerable aspect of Ben’s artistry after the upbeat track, “Beloved,” demonstrating his capacity to express a range of complicated emotions through his music.
He aims to provide listeners with solace, clarity, and empowerment during vulnerable moments by exploring themes of love, loss, and self-discovery in his album.
During his 2025 tour, Ben Barnes will play live in a number of locations in Europe and the UK, including the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London and the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Giving an opportunity for fans to see “Nevermind” performed live.
