Irish singer-songwriter Miranda Faull continues to captivate audiences with her eclectic sound, a fusion of folk, pop, R&B, and soul that really does go against any easy classification. Her highly anticipated debut EP, “Rise & Run” is a culmination of her artistry that promises to showcase her dynamic range and heartfelt storytelling.
Having grown up in a musical household in Sligo and Kildare, she mastered the acoustic guitar at a young age and began crafting songs at 19. Her influences range from the raw emotion of Adele and Lisa Hannigan to the more contemporary stylings of Jorja Smith. These inspirations, combined with her own unique creativity, have helped Miranda carve a fascinating niche in the music world.
Building her career through live performances at iconic venues such as Whelan’s in Dublin and Dingwalls in London, Miranda has steadily gained momentum. Her previous singles, including the acclaimed “Delicate” and the BBC-featured “You Would Have Let Me Down,” have set the stage for this milestone release.
“Rise & Run” is poised to offer listeners a glimpse into her evolution and the vast ocean of influences that define her sound.
The centrepiece of her debut EP is a powerful exploration of generational trauma and the journey to self-liberation. The track carries deep emotional weight and showcases Faul’s evolution as a songwriter.
The song is about breaking free from a broken parental relationship, finding happiness without seeking approval or closure, and carving a path toward emotional independence. “The chorus is a poem I wrote when I was eight years old,” Faul explains. “I wrote the song around the poem when I was 19 and had just started to write songs. I’m 24 now, and I rewrote it this year before recording it, examining the situation from a fresh perspective.”
The production, helmed by acclaimed producer Cian Sweeney, perfectly complements the song’s emotional depth with a bold and dynamic sound. Faul describes the track as a “fight for survival” that balances raw emotion with a vibrant energy designed to encourage movement and release. “I wanted listeners to be able to dance to it but get caught by the lyrics and find catharsis in them,” she shares.
Through its poignant lyrics, rhythmic drive, and layered production, “Rise & Run” stands as a testament to Faul’s artistry and resilience. It is not just a song but a declaration of strength and the transformative power of art. Fans and newcomers alike will find themselves moved by its message and captivated by its sound.
