Singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette’s new release features coffee beans as percussion as she teams up with Costa Rican musician Carlos “Tapado” Vargas. The 40-year-old Grammy Award winner hasn’t released an album for two years, but you can listen to her new track “The Morning” below. It accompanies Lesley Chilcott’s documentary A Small Section of the World that follows female Costa Rican coffee producers, and will premiere this Friday, 14th of November. Morissette told the Hollywood Reporter: “We live in a world where extroversion and warrior-ism wins the day, and the artists and the teachers and the priestesses – these people who provide more subtle contributions – are not publicly acknowledged, so for this to be publicly acknowledged is really heartening”.
