Emma Watson is about to become a princess for real as she signs on to play Belle in Disney‘s new live action Beauty and The Beast film. Dreamgirls director Bill Condon has always been on board to direct the film with fans waiting to hear who’ll play the famous, book enthusiast princess. Emma Watson had this to say on her Facebook page;
“I’m finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’. My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it”.
While I’m not actually a huge fan of Disney’s live action flicks – I’m a girl who prefers her squeaky clean fairy tales in animated form, I couldn’t be happier to hear Watson will be taking on the role as Belle. It’s interesting to see that Watson has confirmed this role as she was recently attached to Guillermo del Toro‘s version of the story, titled BEAST, and while del Toro has gone from directing to producing, her name was still attached. Still, with her recent amazing work on the HeForShe gender equality movement, she’s practically a real life princess away and Belle seems like the perfect character to take on!
