Following the story of journalist Kim Baker as she experiences the culture of Afghanistan and Pakistan, memoir The Taliban Shuffle is making its way to the big screen with directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa helming the project. With super-star Tina Fey taking the lead on this one, shooting has already begun for this adaptation and with the book being described as “darkly comic and unsparing memoir, with Barker using her wry, incisive voice to find the humor and humanity amid the rubble and heartbreak”, this sound like a perfect role for Fey.
The 30 Rock star is also joined by the hilarious Sherlock actor Martin Freeman as well as The Wolf of Wall Street starlet Margot Robbie and the likes of Billy Bob Thornton and Alfred Molina. That’s a pretty impressive cast, right? With Ficarra and Requa (I Love You Philip Morris, Bad Santa) taking helm and comedy writer Robert Carlock (30 Rock, Saturday Night Live) adapting Baker’s memoir, this project is looking really great! It will be interesting to see how this brilliant comedic actors take on a subject matter as sobering and serious as war time journalism but with Freeman and Fey together, I’ve got high hopes! The untitled Taliban Shuffle project is expected to have a release date sometime next year!
