With Harry Potter‘s beautiful Emma Watson having been cast as Belle, Disney‘s live action Beauty and The Beast has finally cast her Prince as Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens is in negotiations to take on the role of the Beast. With Steven’s previous roles including The Guest and The Cobbler, this could be the perfect opportunity to throw the talented actor into the Hollywood limelight!
Dreamgirls director Bill Condom will be helming this project while David Hoberman (Insurgent) and Todd Lieberman (The Fighter) acting as producers. I have to say, I’m loving the casting for this so far but is it enough to get me on board with Disney’s live action remakes? I don’t know. I can’t say I’ve been overly impressed with the likes of 2010’s Alice in Wonderland and 2014’s Maleficent so I can’t say I have a lot of faith in the up and coming Beauty and The Beast.
Still, in saying that, with Emma Watson being a real life hero of mine, I’m actually really excited to see her as one of my favourite Disney Princess, with Dan Stevens looking like a top notch choice for the Beast. Keep an eye out for more casting information coming this way!
