Today saw the release of the first trailer for the highly anticipated documentary Amy, which concerns the life of tragic singing sensation Amy Winehouse. The film’s director, Asif Kapadia, had previously helmed a critically acclaimed 2010 documentary about the legendary motor-racing champion Ayrton Senna. Amy proved to be a hit with both critics and audiences at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Winehouse’s family however has accused the film of making “unfounded and unbalanced” allegations against the late Winehouse. The film will be released in both the US and the UK on July 3, this year.
