BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and “Hot Right Now” singer Rita Ora have been confirmed to complete this year’s X Factor judging line up with returning judges Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell. The news was confirmed through Fernandez-Versini’s Twitter, where she sent out the below image with the caption “Excited to be back on @thexfactor. Welcome to the show @ritaora and @grimmers.. And of course Cowell himself”
There has been some controversy over Ora’s position as a judge as she was also a mentor on the most recent season of The Voice UK, X Factor’s biggest rival. However having successfully been a guest judge on the 2012 season of X Factor, she seems confident of the transition saying “I am excited to be coming back to ‘The X Factor’ – I had a ball here in 2012. This is a journey I can’t wait to embark on to find some talented singers. It’s the new generation taking over. Boom!”
Nick Grimshaw seems equally excited, being a self-proclaimed fan of the show he says “I love ‘X Factor’ and have watched the series religiously since it started, so obviously I’m hugely excited to be joining the show”. Grimshaw and Ora will be replacing last year’s judges Mel B and Louis Walsh, with Walsh becoming almost synonymous with the show due to his long standing position as a mentor. The X Factor returns to ITV this autumn.
