Homophobia tends to accompany a fictional romance between people of the same gender, and Troye Sivan has used this theme to craft a beautiful, though sorrowful, love story. “Blue Neighbourhood” is the title of the mini-series that consists of the music videos for “WILD“, “FOOLS“, and now “TALK ME DOWN” which is the third and final one. Sivan has taken us from jubilant, and shot us down with two arrows marked “heart-wrenching” and “tragic“.
You know those moments when you want to reach into the screen and hug someone ’til they stop feeling sad? That’s what happens nearly every time that Sivan’s face is shown in the latter two installments. In 2013, the twenty-year-old came out as gay to his three-and-a-half million YouTube subscribers and has, clearly, made great use of his position in the gay community. “TALK ME DOWN” is taken from Sivan’s debut album Blue Neighbourhood which will be released on December 4.
