As part of their 1+ project to restore and share the visual partners to their chart topping classics, The Beatles have just had the music video for “Penny Lane” uploaded, and my oh my what a beauty it is. The full retro video collection is due for release on November 6th, but if you head over to their Youtube channel, you can feast your eyes and ears on the spectacles which shook the 60s and generations yet come, being singles: “Hello, Goodbye”, “A Day In The Life”, “Revolution” and “Words Of Love”.
“Two days after recording some overdubs for ‘A Day In The Life’, The Beatles spent the afternoon in East London at Angel Lane, Stratford, filming scenes for the video of ‘Penny Lane’ with Scandinavian director, Peter Goldmann.”
“Shortly after the East London shoot, Goldmann and The Beatles headed to Knole Park, the grounds of a stately home in Kent, to film scenes of the band horse-riding in the countryside. Around this time, Goldmann and his crew (but minus The Beatles) travelled to Liverpool to shoot the sequences near to Penny Lane.”
Speaking about this innovative restoration project, Paul McCartney states: “These videos and films are spectacular reminders of the era we lived in. They also rock!”
