Illumination Entertainment, the animation company behind the Despicable Me franchise, has just revealed details on its new film Sing. The story will follow Buster Moon, a down-on-his-luck koala who decides to throw the world’s greatest singing competition to try and reverse his fortunes.
The film is a musical and is set to feature 85 hit songs. Matthew McConaughey will voice Buster alongside an all-star cast including Reese Wetherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly and Taron Egerton. It will be released on December 21, 2016, making it Illumination’s second film next year, following the summer release of The Secret Life of Pets. Garth Jennings of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Son of Rambow fame directs.
