ABBA have reunited and performed together for the first time in 30 years. The four members gathered on Sunday at a private GALA in Stockholm’s Berns Hotel to celebrate the 50 year partnership between the band’s songwriting duo Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
Towards the end of the evening the two female band members Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog sang an impromptu performance of their 1980’s song “Me and I” in honour of the pair which eventually led to them all being together on stage and being joined by the male members.
It’s the second surprise ABBA reunion this year, after the former bandmates’ assembled Jan 20 for the opening of Stockholm’s Mamma Mia! The Party.
Lyngstad says, “It was absolutely amazing. A lot of emotions…We’ve made this journey throughout our history. Benny and Bjorn in particular. It’s been very nostalgic”.
