Abu Dhabi Musician And Producer Dozenz Shares New Track ‘Chasing Tigers’

Arabian singer-songwriter, producer and musician Dozenz, whose real name is Saleh Hamed, presents his new track titled “Chasing Tigers”. It’s a track with a great vocal performance, but also with a beautiful melody that has a real meaning and a real story to tell.

Dozenz has grown up all over the world, from California to the north of England, but also in the Arab Emirates where he is originally from.

He had a military father based in the water desert, and it was not easy for him to get to school every day as the nearest school was 50 km away.

Dozenz has always had a different taste in music than his family, his favourite singers and bands include Coldplay, Oasis and The Chemical Brother for example.

He was the main songwriter and keyboardist for one of the most popular rock bands in the Middle East. For his music, Dozenz draws his inspiration from three main subjects: life, love and struggle.

“Chasing Tigers” is the lead single from Dozen’s second album Daylight. It was created out of a desire to reconnect to his alternative rock roots after earlier forbidding himself to write guitar-driven music for his debut.

The nervous sensation that comes with pursuing a goal that you know will ultimately hurt you but keep going nevertheless in the misguided belief that it would be worthwhile in the end is what the song is about.

About “Chasing Tigers”, Dozenz explains the process of making the song, “I have always loved the ‘take a sad song and make it better’ line from ‘Hey Jude’, and how the chords underneath accentuate the drama of the line. It’s a trick Stevie Wonder uses on ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’, and Jeff Buckley uses on ‘Love, You Should Have Come Over’, all favourites of mine.

I was messing around with the ‘Hey Jude’ chords as I began the process of writing a new album when the lyric ‘and if it should start, let it start at the beginning’ came to me over the chords. The rest of the song kind of just flowed out of me and I was done writing it in about 10 minutes.

I recorded my guide vocal and reached out to J Fitz, who I had discovered recently and was a big fan of. He loved the track and put down a fantastic and emotional vocal that just took the song to another level“.
