On the brink of vulnerability and hope, Alexia Chambi’s latest single “Love Letters” articulates the delicate balance of love, regret, and anticipation.
This poignant piece delves deep into the dilemma of whether love can triumph over past mistakes. The introspective lyrics ponder, “Seems like / everybody else made their mind up / everybody’s saying our time’s up… one day I’ll carry your baby.”
This isn’t just a single release, but a glimpse into Alexia’s forthcoming EP titled ‘Open Relationship.’ The project, characterized by minimalist R’n’B and pop productions, intends to examine the intricate and often unspoken aspects of embarking on an open relationship.
The multifaceted Alexia Chambi not only penned “Love Letters” but also took on the role of producer, collaborating with Saman Piotr Kadduri, who subsequently mixed and mastered the track.
A native of Samsø Island, Denmark, Alexia’s musical journey is enriched by her diverse heritage—her mother being Danish and father, Greek-Cypriot.
An early passion for music and a penchant for storytelling propelled her move to London at 17. There, she honed her songwriting skills at the British Institute of Modern Music and graced numerous open mic stages.
Her travels through South America and Europe enriched her narrative palette, leading to emotive works such as the collaborative EP Hanging on a Scar with Ralph Taylor and her debut solo effort, ‘Bolivia.’
A shift in her musical direction was observed upon her return to Denmark. Transitioning from her initial folk/pop leanings, she ventured into the realms of R&B and soul, evident in her EP I Blossom While I Cry.
However, it’s her upcoming EP, Open Relationship, anticipated in early fall, that promises to be a revelatory tapestry of her life experiences. Melding R’n’B, soul, and bedroom pop, it offers a candid exploration of open relationships and their implications.
Now, finding solace on the Island of Møn, Denmark, Alexia has adopted a tranquil rhythm of life. Surrounded by nature, she continues to craft melodies in her home studio and serenade audiences with her acoustic sets throughout Denmark. Listen to “Love Letters” below!
