The up-and-coming Ex Machina star is the most recent of many Hollywood women to make comments regarding the industry’s gender imbalance. Vikander claims that women aren’t represented enough on screen, as she filmed five films in a row before doing a scene with a fellow woman. Talking to the Guardian, she claims “male domination is just as strong in supporting roles”. Vikander also made comments about what it means to be strong, arguing that “it can be a fragile, flawed person, but if they have enough dimension and depth that you understand them even at their weakest…that’s a strong character to me”.
