Ambraya’s Authentic Voice Emerges On Debut Single ‘Happy Place’

Emerging from Melbourne’s vibrant music scene, singer-songwriter Ambraya is set to introduce her genuine voice to the world with her debut single, “happy place,” launching on October 20.

While the track captures inspirations from eminent artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Sara Bareilles, and Billie Eilish, at its core, ‘happy place’ provides a powerful reminder about the origin of true happiness.

Navigating the universal emotions of relying on external factors for joy, Ambraya poignantly expresses in the song, “It’s so easy to want to hold on to and rely on the things around us to fill our cup. If you’re not truly content, those things will crumble.”

Written in 2020 during a personal crossroads in her life, ‘happy place’ becomes a narrative exploring the emotional tussle of clinging to a fantasy, contrasting with the self-empowerment of embarking on a personal journey.

Ambraya’s emotive songwriting and enthralling vocal range have already garnered attention, making ‘happy place’ an eagerly anticipated release. The singer’s resonating stories and melodies undoubtedly attest to her notable musical expertise.

Beyond her musical ventures, 2023 will witness Ambraya exploring her literary side. Together with her friend and Victorian creative, Benny Gregs, she will release a children’s book titled ‘Safe Happy & Healthy.’ This move further cements her commitment to initiating conversations about self-discovery.

Having been previously recognized with the ‘Best Soloist’ title at the Australia Acapella Awards in 2019 and a sell-out debut show ‘Constellations’ in 2021, Ambraya’s repertoire is expansive. Her performances span iconic venues like Paris Cat Jazz Club and Howler, and she’s been a key figure in notable projects such as Benny’s Coming Together Christmas.

As we move further into 2023, “happy place” stands as just the beginning for Ambraya. With her recent performances in ‘Broadway Unplugged’ and as a principal vocalist in Starbound 19, this talented artist is paving the way for a promising and multifaceted career in both music and literature.
