Another Amityville based horror movie is set for the big screen, Broad Green have announced. 1974 will use a script by Casey La Scala (The Remaining), who will also direct, with Eli Roth and Todd Garner producing.
The title of the project, 1974, references the year that Ronald DeFeo Jr. massacred his own family in their home at 112 Ocean Ave. in Amityville, a house that has now been associated with a series of hauntings and an equal share of films. Jay Anson’s book The Amitville Horror popularised the paranormal associations of the house after writing about the disturbing experiences of the Lutz family in 1975.
Broad Green Pictures have stated that the project is inspired by true events and recounts the fateful story of one family that’s “relentlessly stalked by a terrifying apparition intent upon slaughtering them all.”
There is currently no production date set for the film
