The process of acceptance gender in high fashion has been very slow, but it is a fact that transgender fashion models have had make their own way to the industry. We all remember Lea T, the world’s first transgender super model and the first one to become the face of a global cosmetic brand such as Redken. Now it’s the turn of Andreja Pejic, who has been named as the new face of the multifaceted make-up brand, Make Up For Ever.
In the modelling world, landing a beauty contract opens a lot of opportunities in and outside the industry, and with a creative advertising made by cosmetic companies about gender, it gives the industry equality and a more modern and representative statement. I am just wondering (and hoping not!) if this acceptance fashion is having is a way to just catch people’s attention because everything else is already too out-there and maybe even boring; either way, an industry as powerful as this one, will surely give the world a whole different and positive perspective of beauty.
