Andy C has unveiled the video for his new single with Fiora titled “Heartbeat Loud”. This is Andy’s first official music video, and his first release since signing to Atlantic Records. “Heartbeat Loud” was premiered on Radio 1 as Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record’ and can currently be heard via Andy’s Soundcloud, having now garnered over 245,000 plays.
The video for “Heartbeat Loud” was produced by BAFTA nominated documentary filmmakers, Wilkins & Maguire, who shot the footage on location on Indonesia’s Sumbawa Island. The video captures the island’s child jockeys who race horses in local community competitions, a recent subject for Indonesian photographer, Romi Perbawa.
The vocal for “Heartbeat Loud” was originally written by Fiora and intended to be a solo release, but upon hearing the vocal, Andy C mixed it together with one of his own instrumental tracks that he’d been testing out in his sets for some months; it was clear to both, the strength of the collaboration was undeniable. “Heartbeat Loud”, which also includes an extended mix from Andy, will drop shortly after his debut solo show at O2 Academy Brixton that sold out three months in advance.
Andy’s reputation as one of the most significant British artists in global dance music was clear as far back as 2012, when his was the most watched performance at Radio 1‘s Hackney Weekend event above both Jay Z’s and Rihanna’s, and few artists enjoy the level of anticipation that greets each of his releases.
As an emerging songwriter and vocalist, Fiora is set to be an artist to watch in 2015, with an album planned for release in the next year. Fiora moved to Berlin in 2009 and soon become ingrained in the electronic music scene. Through songwriting circles, she quickly fell into the DJ world, writing and performing on releases with the likes of Moguai and Armin Van Buuren. She also recently featuring as singer and writer on Tensnake’s debut album Glow, co-writing “Love Sublime” with Nile Rodgers, which was featured as Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record in the World’ on Radio 1 in March 2014.
Andy C and Fiora’s “Heartbeat Loud” is the first of further new material that can be expected over the next 12 months. Andy’s long-awaited return to the studio in 2013 led to new material including “Haunting” and “Workout” (featured on his acclaimed Nightlife 6 compilation), and remixes including Rudimental (“Right Here”), Major Lazer (Andy’s remix of “Get Free” was B-listed by Radio 1) and latterly, London Grammar.
