Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as a US air force drone pilot in a film version of Grounded based off the play she appeared on Broadway. Julie Taymor directed the play by George Brant whilst no director has been confirmed for the film adaptation.
The production received strong reviews at the time, the Guardian’s Alexis Soloski calling Hathaway “consciously chameleonesque” in her performance. She went on to comment:
“The script demands a heightened performance, especially as the pilot grows increasingly unstrapped from observable reality, and Hathaway delivers,” she wrote. “Monomania is one of her specialties, and she goes full throttle here.”
