Neo-soul singer, Arima Ederra, pays tribute to rapper, Mos Def, with a rendition of “The Boogie Man Song”. This comes from Def’s second album, 2004 effort The New Danger. This, produced by Swrvy, is prior to Ederra’s debut EP, Temporary Fixes, which is due in the coming months for those dying for a sample of her work.
The nice, jazzy and laidback backdrop is complemented by sleepy vocals that relax. In fact, the beat and the vocals contribute to a very dreamy soundscape. She riffs in the last verses, making sounds to accompany the music, instead of forming words. This, of course, suits the jazzy instrumental, too.
