It’s not uncommon for singers and rappers to transition into fashion. Kanye West has done it with Yeezy, Pharrell Williams with Billionaire Boys Club and Rhianna with collaborations including Puma and River Island.
Recently it appears that A$AP Rocky is to become the new face of luxury fashion. The rapper, whose hits include “F**ckin’ Problems” with Drake, Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz, has already been named as the first person of colour to represent French fashion house Dior Homme.
He has also collaborated with JW Anderson for the JWA X A$AP Rocky and AWGE collection, and recently appeared in a Gucci publicity email wearing a Gucci PreFall 2016 black denim embroidered jacket. A$AP recently told the New York Times: “I would never want to be a fashion designer, but I do have a lot of ideas”.
