Australian trio daste. have released their new single “River” as a teaser to their upcoming album in February 2025.
The trio term the creation of River to be a rich collaborative experience, where they spent a few days behind a hinterland behind Yamba in New South Wales and were lovingly joined by their artist friends Aidan Rahman and Jess Cameron. Once they got the chord progression down, they were bouncing lyrics and melodies until the musical masterpiece started to take proper shape.
The lyrics of the song talk about how love can be so wonderful yet scary at the same time. It delves into the topic that heartbreak can cause a fear of love and stop us from opening up and showcasing our vulnerability and forces us to go back in our shell.
Fast forward to about 3 months from this getaway, they found themselves in LA working in Jim Alxndr’s studio, where they dissected the track and added tonnes of natural sounds and effects to their track to enrich its lush, natural and fun-loving nature. The song embraces the idea of love and jumping into the unknown.
Over the last few months, daste. have been building excitement about their new album with the sonically lush tracks “Around,” “Colours,” “Atlas” and “Starwriter.”
