It is this time of year when BBC Music highlights 15 rising acts for the following year. The artists included in this longlist are Izzy Bizu, Blossoms, Alessia Cara, Loyle Carner, Frances, Jack Garratt, J Hus, Dua Lipa, Mabel, Billie Marten, Mura Masa, NAO, Rat Boy, Section Boyz and WSTRN. The Canadian singer and songwriter Alessia Cara said “The fact that people think I can have the same potential as these huge artists is incredible“.
Last year winners were Years and Years that have had one UK number 1 and 3 UK Top 10s. The previous year’s winners include the likes of Sam Smith, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding and Adele. BBC has also released a video explaining the BBC Music Sound Awards and a clip of each artist included in the Sound Of 2016 longlist. Watch the video below:
