London duo, Bear’s Den, unveiled a brand new video for their single, titled “Dew On The Vine”. It features cameo appearances from the band themselves, YouTuber Tom Gray, and Radio 2’s legendary Bob Harris. This video arrives just ahead of the band’s completely sold out UK tour.
“Dew On The Vine” rings with cinematic vigour before the strumming of guitar and pounding of drum kick in. It is certainly rousing and uplifting. The drums double up to give the song extra anthemic quality. A swelling of keyboard gives it an emotional rise, a perfectly constructed song in many respects.
The video, directed by Louis Bhose, is basically a ping pong tournament, possibly an ironic dig at the serious, heartfelt and earnest sentiments put forward in the song. It does not render it mere novelty, however, and seems to put it within the lens of, say, an Eighties triumph movie, epic endeavour collages detailing the highs and lows of a ping pong Rocky equivalent.
