Bella Union’s very own record shop opened in Brighton yesterday. Bella Union is an independent record label founded by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie, of Cocteau Twins, in 1997, now run solely by Raymonde. It was after releasing records with 4AD for a large part of their career that they decided to start up Bella Union.
The store, in Ship Street Gardens, celebrated its grand opening with a performances from Jamie Lee of MONEY, and appearances by labelmates, Mercury Rev. The label, home to Father John Misty and Explosions In The Sky, carried on the celebrations well into the evening.
