Earlier today, Bethany Cosentino, of Best Coast, went on a social media rant about Chris Brown’s latest single, “Back To Sleep”, which has been on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the past 17 weeks.
Cosentino points out, the chorus of the song says, “Just let me rock, fuck you back to sleep; Don’t say a word no; Girl, don’t you talk”.
She took Brown to task with the lyrics, saying that they “perpetuate rape culture”, and the fact that the song is currently a hit being “disgusting”. She clarified that she does not merely have a problem with Chris Brown, but the larger music industry that believed the song’s message was appropriate.
