Blink-182 have unofficially announced that they have returned to the studio. In a Twitter conversation between Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Blink-182’s bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus, Hoppus told the world that they are in the studio. Wentz posted “coming up soon on @Beats1 a @panicatthedisco #WorldRecord + playing songs by @theweeknd, @traviemccoy, @halsey & more https://apple.co/Beats1“. To which Hoppus replied “@petewentz where’s the blink-182, man?!” Wentz and Hoppus went on to say “@markhoppus dude that’s what I’m saying… New music soon??? What jam should I play?” “@petewentz in the studio today“.
With this news being exciting for fans, they are still left wondering who is going to be the guitarist and other vocalist. Ex Blink-182 member Tom DeLonge has said in recent interviews that he would love to get back with the band once again.
DeLonge said to Billboard “I’m grateful for that band and for those guys in my life. And I think about that band every single day of my life, sometimes multiple times a day. I love those guys and I love the band and, in the future let’s play together and figure it out or whatever. We just need time apart because we all want different things at this time. Those guys want to play the music and tour all the time, but I’m involved in some very big s**t and some very important stuff”.
Blink-182 and DeLonge have had an on/off relationship for the past decade, with the band splitting up on a couple of occasions over the years. Blink have recruited Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba to fill in DeLonge’s shoes and they work very well together. Whether this is a permanent fixture or not we shall soon find out. Looking forward to what the band next produce.
