Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak have announced on Twitter that they joined forces during quarantine and made a whole new album under the band name Silk Sonic, with the lead single to be released to the public this Friday. Paak said on his Instagram, “We made an album!! Y’all get the first song next Friday 3/5!! Rocket emojis and all that!!!”
It’s fantastic news to know that Bruno Mars is back again, as he’s been off the grid since his last album in 2016 24K Magic, with which the star won the triple crown at the 2018 Grammy Awards, including album of the year and record of the year with the hit “That’s What I Like”.
Anderson’s latest release Ventura was released back in Aril 2019, in collaboration with Brandy, Smokey Robinson, Lalah Hathaway, Sonyae Elise, Jazmine Sullivan, and André 3000. According to the post on Twitter, their “special guest host” on the record is the Funk legend Bootsy Collins, bassist of Parliament-Funkadelic.
These two are a double trouble combo, we know it from tourmates when .Paak opened for Mars on part of the ’24K Magic’ tour, three years ago. The pair have also had separate appearances on the Chic album It’s About Time. Check back in with us on Friday to hear their new single.
