Montreal alt-pop artist Dee Holt released her six-song EP titled I’ll Be There, led by focus track “Fell In Love” on April 28.
At just 19 years old, this rising star offers a fresh take on pop songwriting, addressing complex topics such as relationships, gender roles, and the challenges of growing up.
Working alongside producer Benjamin Nadeau, the EP features minimalist production, allowing Dee Holt’s impressive vocal talents to shine.
Speaking about the project, Dee says, “This project was such a fun experience, in every aspect. I loved experimenting with my writing style and technique, I loved brainstorming and creating visuals that went along with the songs.
But most of all, I loved walking into the studio and getting carried away in the music, trying new things. Coming up with an idea, and then slowly watching it build and come to life is such a special feeling.”
Growing up in a creative environment, Dee Holt has always been surrounded by music and art. Despite her evident musical abilities, she never considered pursuing a career in the industry until an intimate performance for her and her boyfriend’s parents opened her eyes to her true gift.
Moved by her voice, the emotional reactions of her loved ones finally convinced her to pursue music professionally.
Dee Holt remains deeply involved in the creative process, producing her own artwork and directing her own music videos, while studying art and animation at university. Her unique and captivating sensibility is showcased throughout the I’ll Be There EP.
