Vancouver, British Columbia – February 1, 2023 – Nick Stone, a musician in the Alt-Rock genre, just dropped a new tune “Famous People”. A relatable charm and twangy tones reminiscent of Mac Demarco swirl throughout this effortlessly relaxed alt-rock song.
Not only is this a masterpiece in terms of instrumentation and the vocal delivery of Nick Stone, but the story of its creation is pretty interesting, which reflects the quality of the lyrics.
According to Nick Stone, “I wrote it on one of those reclusive sunny days when you feel like you should be out enjoying the weather. Instead, my mind procrastinated and I read a story about the passing of a celebrity. This got me thinking, good or bad, all famous people have done something worth being remembered for. What makes a specific thing worth remembering? Could I ever, or would I ever want that?”
“The Song features an introspective view on the constant need to compare and contrast my life to those that I admire and the uncertainty in how I live every day will affect how I want to live in the future“, adds the artist about the starting point of the new release. This point of departure proves what happens when creative people think, dive and perhaps drown in their thoughts.
With his eclectic debut EP, The Stone, Nick Stone is the newest artist to emerge from the Canadian alternative rock scene (2021). Justin Waddell, a boyhood buddy who helped start the band, is now joined by Dan Ponich, a producer and drummer; Justin Truman, a bassist; and Max Polishuk, a keyboardist. Since the album’s release, Nick has been working nonstop to write, record, and perform new music.
The band’s debut song with new bassist Justin Truman, “Famous People,” also marks the beginning of a new era for the group.
The cheerful pace, catchy electric guitar, and airy synth ambiance provide a sharp contrast to the Stone EP’s more folk-oriented sound (2021). “Famous People” is just the beginning of what Nick Stone has in store for 2023; a full-length album is on the way.
This summer, he’s excited to perform on local Vancouver stages and visit his birthplace for a few performances. Nick is one of the most exciting emerging storytellers in the Canadian music landscape because of his love of fun comedy in serious circumstances and contagious joy.
