The Irish singer and songwriter Carrie Baxter has dropped her first release of 2020 “Love Me Better”. This brand new track is the first single off her forthcoming debut EP/Mixtape, which is going to explore lust, romance, and firsts of new relationship.
With her distinctively sweet and intense voice, in this track Carrie puts into music the picture of a relatable experience when in a relationship we allow our desires to take over, even if we know they are wrong.
Her lyrics “you could leave if you want it/but I could make you love me/make you love me better” have undertones of darkness and desperation, which may occur when we remain attached to a relationship even when aware of all the deceit and lies that come along.
“Love Me Better” follows the artist successful debut single “Lady”, that saw Carrie make National Print press in her native Ireland, gaining support from BBC Introducing and featuring in the 2019 BBC Introducing Hot List.
Carrie Baxter was born in Ireland and she moved to London in 2009, where she developed her own musical style, mixing jazz and soul-drenched melodies into a melting pot of Dilla-Esque beats.
As Carrie stated, she enjoys making an “all-day chill in the bath kinda music”. If you want to have a taste of it, make sure to listen to this heartfelt single.
