Casio, in collaboration with Toyota’s Team Land Cruiser (TLC) Toyota Auto Body, unveils the rugged GW-9500TLC-1DR G-SHOCK watch, inspired by TLC’s Dakar Rally spirit and performance. This durable timepiece, priced at approximately $500 USD, includes endurance and precision while incorporating eco-friendly materials.
The GW-9500TLC-1DR, based on the MUDMAN GW-9500, features a dual-layer LCD and dust/mud-resistant structure. Its design cues come from TLC’s Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport, evident in the black-red color scheme and stainless steel, black ion-plated bezel.
The watch band, with a brown base and black splatter pattern, symbolizes the rally’s desert sands. Notably, the LED backlight reveals a TLC graphic. It’s not just about looks; the watch is solar-powered, and radio-controlled, with a digital compass, barometer, altimeter, and thermometer.
In an environmentally conscious move, bio-based resin and recycled materials are used. Arthur Parkhouse, a spokesperson for Casio, stated, “This collaboration showcases our commitment to durability and sustainability.”
According to Parkhouse, “The GW-9500TLC-1DR embodies the spirit of endurance and precision that defines both G-SHOCK and TLC.” He added, “We’re thrilled to offer enthusiasts a timepiece that reflects the toughness of both brands.”
The watch will be available for around $500 USD on Casio’s UK site starting February 1. As the collaboration celebrates TLC’s 11th consecutive Dakar Rally victory, it’s more than just a watch—it’s a wink to endurance, precision, and environmental responsibility.
