Out right now is the hugely wavy “Hurry Up & Buy“, which comes courtesy of London artist Casscade, who has teamed up with German rapper Joshi Mizu on a track which drips with sauce and continental swagger.
It’s not often we see this sort of collab but with the rap scene in Germany exploding over the last few years it’s exciting to see these cross over tracks beginning to surface more and more.
On “Hurry Up & Buy”, we see both artists exploit their flair for hooks and melodies, backed up by some knocking 808’s and a killer hook. Mizu’s bars, which he delivers in German gel surprising well with Casscade’s London style and we’ve been told to expect a music video for the cut too in following weeks too.
Having been making waves in Germany in recent years off the back of his breakout single ‘Sexy’ blowing up after it was featured on a TV show, Casscade has been making numerous trips there to work with producers in recent months. It seemed only natural to work with Mizu who is one of the shining lights of the flourishing scene there.
Speaking of how the track came to fruition, Casscade says:
“After headlining a show in Germany back in 2018, I really got to see how dope their scene was and how it isn’t too different sonically from what we do in the UK. I’ve always been about pushing the boundaries of music but organically. Joshi was introduced to me while he was shooting a video for his single here in London last year – we chopped it up, played each other music and the rest was history. That’s GANG now!”
Joshi Mizu is a leading figure in the rap scene in his homeland with various charting hits to his name (including one of his latest songs in the Top 10 for 9 weeks), massive streaming numbers, numerous tours and over 50K subscribers on his YouTube channel.
Casscade has been doing his thing in the UK – known for his flamboyant bars and lyric packed tracks, in 2019 he held his second sold out show at Camden Assembly, was part of a sold-out show at O2 Islington and teared down the Mastermind x Supermalt stage at Notting Hill Carnival. During that time, he also dropped his breakthrough summer anthem “Doing Alright” which was playlisted across regional radio.
