Yesterday was a pretty important night for trend-setting PC Music: the independent label and creative collective launched its club night POP CITY in Los Angeles, attracting a plethora of ecstatic fans and an enthusiastic press.
Alongside most of its members (including producers A.G. Cook, Danny L Harle and SPINEE, and pop princesses QT, Hannah Diamond and GFOTY), PC Music invited some special guests who are in some way connected to its universe.
Canadian disco diva Carly Rae Jepsen jumped on stage with Danny L Harle to present their collaboration “Supernatural” – already previewed at PC Music’s London event POP Cosmos back in May – which is a blissful and carefree Paris Hilton-y smash hit waiting to happen.
On the other hand, British pop phenomenon Charli XCX appeared during A. G. Cook’s segment to perform a couple songs: alongside the already released “Paradise”, the duo premiered a new track from Charli’s yet-untitled, very-soon-to-be-released third studio album.
“Bounce” sounds alright and features a particularly strong and childish pre-chorus, but it’s definitely a disappointment after the stellar Vroom Vroom EP: frankly, we thought we were over instrumental hooks, but she is clearly not.
