With an upcoming fifth Alien film to help continue the Alien franchise and a sequel to Prometheus on its way to a cinema near you by next year, the question that all Alien fans would want answered is whether there will be a crossover between Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2.
By this stage, it is very difficult to know for certain whether a crossover will take place but what can be guaranteed is that both films are set to excite the viewer with inriguing material. Alien 5 will most likely be influenced by Neill Blomkamp’s art style and visual cinematography as seen in his other science fiction films such as District 9 and Chappie. Blomkamp would be mindful to keep the fifth instalment consistent with themes that featured so prominently in the original 1979 film. For example Sigourney Weaver will return to the role as the action heroine Ripley.
As for Prometheus 2, the narrative will resume with Dr Shaw continuing on her quest for truth about her existence as new revelations will most likely unfold with dramatic implications on her character development. Both Alien 5 and Prometheus 2 are heading in completely different directions in comparison to one another and any potential chance to interlink the two films together could either be considered a success or a failure but only time will tell. The Alien / Prometheus crossover could help further this existing franchise to greater heights as well as help satisfy the most loyalist of fans whom would pay anything for the opportunity to witness such a spectacle.
