Much of the production for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 is shrouded in mystery, but a big spoiler might just have dropped. In November last year, James Gunn, director of the massively successful Guardians of the Galaxy, took to Facebook to declare that he would no longer comment on any conjecture for his follow-up film. However, that was never going to stop people from asking and now fans of the film believe they have identified the villain of the piece.
According to Geek.com, the Guardians will be squaring up against Ego the Living Planet. It sounds like something out of a Douglas Adams novel but truly, this is who Marvelites believe is next on the list. Ego the Living Planet is, (surprise surprise) a planet that has sentient features such as a brain and other vital organs.
Considering the villain of Guardians of the Galaxy was intrinsically linked to the over-arching Thanos narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it shall be interesting to see how this villain ties in to it as well (if indeed it does at all). However, Ego the Living Planet has crossed paths with other characters from the Marvel universe, having first appeared in the Thor comic series and also later appearing in X-Men Unlimited and Fantastic Four. Although this is all conjecture, it’s something I would love to see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, which shall see the return of Chris Pratt as Star Lord alongside Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
