The American pop-punk duo Diet Cig have just released the music video for their latest single “Maid of the Mist”. The single is taken from Diet Cig’s new album titled Swear I’m Good At This which is out now via Frenchkiss Records.
The occult-friendly video directed by Emily Dubin is very funny, showing four witches who set up a ritual to make sure they get to kiss the boy they want during spin the bottle. The purpose of the video is to joke about female emotion.
Speaking about the video the director said: “I think our fondness for and practice of emotional intelligence in a general sense is one of the strongest assets that women can have; what better way to embody power, sensitivity, emotion, and connection to the universe than a bad ass group of witches?”
“Maid of the Mist” is a strong pop song with an attractive melody. The duo’s rock soul is perceived in the guitars and in the drums which are prominent parts of the simple music arrangement.
Diet Cig have just begun a huge UK/European tour with the Scottish indie-pop band The Spook School. They will be performing live in London, Manchester, Birmingham and a number of other cities. Find the full tour dates here.
